The Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) has successfully designed and manufactured proprietary commercial-scale solvent extraction cells for its under construction Rare Earth Processing Facility.

Saskatchewan and Canada are now one of only a handful of jurisdictions in the world with the capability to design and manufacture commercial-scale solvent extraction cells.

SRC is manufacturing 140 of these cells at the fabrication facility by fall 2023. The cells will be the main component in the Rare Earth Processing Facilities Separation Unit.

The cells, which are being developed with automation algorithms to improve productivity and efficiency, are being manufactured at an SRC-operated fabrication facility in Saskatoon, SK.

Metal ingots were processed by the Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) during a successful test run of the metals smelting unit at its under construction Rare Earth Processing Facility.

First large-scaled production of magnet metals in Canada were processed at SRC's under-construction Rare Earth Processing Facility.
