Mike Crabtree

mike crabtree saskatchewan research council ceoMike Crabtree is President and CEO of the Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC), Canada's second-largest research and technology organization, where he leads efforts to advance innovation, including the development of North America’s first fully integrated rare earth element (REE) processing facility. With more than 30 years of international experience across oil and gas, renewable energy and critical minerals, Mike has held senior executive roles with Schlumberger and Carbon Engineering. He also founded his own technology company, growing it from startup through to its successful sale in 2011. 

Mike serves as a director and board chair for several private companies and works with private equity firms and investors to evaluate opportunities and support company growth. His expertise spans operations, R&D, technology commercialization and strategic leadership. His contributions have been recognized through numerous honours, including the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal and the Premier’s Award for Excellence in Public Service. He holds a master’s degree in petroleum engineering and a degree in chemistry.
