The Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) is holding a public meeting on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 in Uranium City, SK at the Ben McIntyre School. SRC, AECOM and Prince Albert Grand Council (PAGC) representatives are scheduled to present project updates and will be on hand to answer questions. Following a proceeding held on July 5, 2010, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) announced its decision to replace the Designated Officer Order issued to SRC, on June 18, 2010, with a Commission Order. Saskatchewan-based entrepreneurs Geoff Horn and Clayton Sparks were each awarded $5,000 through SRC's Technology-In-Action (TIA) fund at the SYPE Silver Spades Awards & Gala on June 10, 2010. SRC was also the sponsor of the Young Entrepreneur of Southern Saskatchewan award, which was presented with the TIA award to Geoff Horn, owner of Fresh Air Experience & The Prairie Summit Shop. Clayton Sparks, owner of Advance-Tek Consulting Inc., received the Young Entrepreneur of Northern Saskatchewan award in addition to the TIA award. The TIA fund was established by Ian and Pearl Wahn to honour their pioneering grandparents. The fund is designed to address the immediate needs of small and medium-sized businesses, farmers and rural communities.
