SRC and CLC Announce Strategic Relationship Posted: Wednesday, January 27, 2010
 

The Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) is entering into a strategic relationship with the Conservation Learning Centre (CLC) in Prince Albert to conduct environmental research and demonstration projects. The five-year agreement runs to 2014, allowing both organizations to continue demonstrating research projects that have forestry, agricultural and environmental components.

"The Saskatchewan Research Council is pleased to work with the Conservation Learning Centre to promote agriculture, forestry, and environmentally-sustainable practices," said Joe Muldoon, vice-president of Environment and Forestry at SRC. "Our agreement with the Centre ensures that we are able to continue conducting research in a unique environment. Having access to a field laboratory environment is critical to a number of our current research projects."

$3.2Million Awarded to Crop Research Projects Posted: Tuesday, January 12, 2010
 

Today, Agriculture Minister Bob Bjornerud announced more than $3.2 million in funding from the Agriculture Development Fund (ADF) for 23 crop-related research projects.  Crop-related research projects receiving funding this year include $120,000 for SRC’s Pretreatment of Lignocellulose Prior to Fermentation to Ethanol - optimizing the use of straw for Saskatchewan ethanol production using a novel supercritical carbon dioxide pretreatment method.

New sample collection tool for livestock genetic testing Posted: Monday, January 11, 2010

SRC to Test Biodiesel's Performance in Agriculture Equipment Posted: Thursday, December 17, 2009
 
The Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) is leading a biodiesel pilot project to demonstrate how well the renewable fuel performs year-round in agriculture equipment. Supported by Natural Resources Canada the project will help SRC assess biodiesel's quality retention and performance in farming equipment and bulk storage facilities in all seasons, including the coldest winter months.

Cooling Down Energy Costs for Municipal Ice Rinks Posted: Thursday, November 26, 2009
 
SaskPower Eneraction has introduced a Municipal Ice Rink Program aimed at reducing the power and heating costs associated with operating municipal ice rinks. Delivered in partnership with the Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC), the five-year program provides municipalities with a comprehensive energy assessment and retrofit service as well as assistance in accessing existing provincial and federal funding and grant programs.
