The SRC Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Strategy is intended to provide a framework for leading the organization from good to best safety practices, which in turn ensure that SRC achieves outstanding safety.
Principles
SRC's safety Vision and Goal, are built on the following principles:
- Occupational health and safety is the top priority and explicitly takes precedence over achieving business objectives, as stated in the SRC Safety Vision.
- Outstanding safety is consistent with, and will actually support the achievement of business excellence, in much the same way as do quality management and continuous improvement.
- Occupational Health and Safety can be managed: all injuries and occupational illnesses can be prevented.
- Safety must be made an integral part of all tasks in every job.
- Outstanding safety is mostly a function of awareness, preparedness, and focus.
- Senior management must be visibly and absolutely committed to outstanding safety.
- Safety is both a 'line' and an individual responsibility. Everyone at SRC has to be involved in doing things safely. All levels of management and supervision are accountable for preventing injuries and occupational illnesses in their areas. At the same time, every individual must take responsibility for their own safety and that of their co-workers. The role of safety specialists is therefore to facilitate the work of management and staff in achieving outstanding safety.
"Safety and Occupational Health are the overriding priorities for SRC."
