SRC will be administering a commercial rebate program to encourage the use of geothermal systems within Saskatchewan's business sector.
About
In May 2009, the provincial government introduced a rebate program to encourage the use of geothermal systems within Saskatchewan's business sector. Eligible businesses can receive a 15 per cent rebate on the cost of installing a geothermal heating and cooling system. The maximum rebate is $100,000.
The commercial rebate program is funded by SaskPower Eneraction, and administered by the Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC). To be eligible for the rebate, projects must be pre-approved by SRC prior to installation, and they must be professionally designed and then installed by a CGC Accredited Installer.
About Geothermal
Geothermal systems have also been referred to as earth energy systems, geoexchange, or ground source heat pump systems.
The concept takes advantage of the ground s heating and cooling properties (the same properties that make any basement cooler in the summer) to heat or cool entire buildings.
The heat exchange between the ground and the building is accomplished by using standard pump and compressor technology.

(SaskPower will assist with the cost of those studies, funding up to 50 per cent of the first $5,000 and up to 25 per cent of the remaining costs.)
