SRC Homepage
SRC is an internationally recognized leader in the development and implementation of relevant science and technology. Established in 1947 to advance physical sciences in Saskatchewan, SRC is now a market-driven company that sells services and products to companies in Saskatchewan and around the world.
As our client’s research and development needs have grown and expanded, so have our services. Our unique advantage is our ability to draw on the expertise of the wider organization to provide multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary teams to provide solutions for client problems or develop brand new concepts and processes.
Key Business Areas
SRC has four business divisions serving clients across these strategic sectors:
Agriculture/Biotechnology Division
- Supports value-added agriculture by providing testing services for the biotechnology sector.
- Its GenServe Laboratories™ is a commercial genetics facility that was a supporting laboratory for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s testing during the BSE crisis.
- Its BioManufacturing Laboratories operate a world-class Biosafety Level 2 Fermentation Plant.
Energy Division
- Consults on fossil fuel development projects.
- Its SRC Biofuels Test Centre™ is the only facility of its kind in Saskatchewan to support the ethanol and biodiesel industries.
- The Alternative Energy unit focuses on developing hydrogen, natural gas and ethanol-powered vehicles.
- The Building Performance unit provides expertise and research on energy efficiency standards, energy audits, indoor environment quality and weatherization testing.
Environment Division
- Provides research and development, consulting and analytical services to address the environmental side of sustainable development.
- Consults about environmental impacts of projects regarding air quality, soil, water quality, environmental remediation, climate change impacts and adaptations, forest and agro-forestry.

Mining and Minerals Division
- Provides research, development and technical services to mining clients from exploration—for uranium, gold, diamonds, potash and base metals—to decommissioning planning.
- Operates three specialized laboratories to enhance rapid, confidential mineral exploration services.
- Features a Diamond lab offering micro and macro services.
- Its Pipe Flow Technology Centre™ is utilized by global mining and petroleum industries.
